The Mascots of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Fuwa are the mascots of the 29^th Olympic Games in Beijing, 2008. Every Fuwa represents a good wish: Prosperity, happiness, passion, health and good luck. The Fuwa will take their best wishes to all the corner of the world and invite all people around the world gathering together and celebrate the 2008 Olympic Games. Each Fuwa has its own name. They are “Beibei” “Jingjing” Yingying” “Huanhuan” “Nini”.

Beibei carries  iPod accessories  the blessing of Prosperity. In Chinese traditional art culture, “Fish” and “Water” are symbolized prosperity and harvest. A fish is also a symbol of surplus in Chinese culture, another measure of a good year and a good life.

Yingying is an alert and smart antelope who can run fast. He comes from the wide western and spreads the best wishes of health to all over the world. Yingying is the special animal in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau who is under protection. He reflects the Green Olympic Games.

Yingying’s head ornament incorporates several decorative styles from the Qinghai-Tibet and Xinjiang cultures and the ethnic design traditions of Western China. Yingying is a quick-witted and agile boy who is good at track and field. He represents the yellow Olympic ring.

Nini is a flying swallow. Nini's figure is drawn from the traditional swallow kites of Beijing. “ Swallow” pronounces “ yan” in Chinese which stands for the old Beijing. Nini brings spring and joyousness to people and spreads “ Good luck” to everywhere she flies.
