AFTER months of renovation, the new, enlarged Coffee Garden at the Shangri-La Hotel Luohu is offering a lavish selection of delicacies in the a la carte and buffet menus as well as an innovative dining experience.
Located on the second floor of the hotel, the restaurant has been decorated in a modern, refreshing style associated with a great sense of comfort and ease. Asian-style fabrics, brightly colored glass, stone buffet counters and dark timber wooden flooring provide a rich anchor for the new look. Theatrical lighting can be customized for each meal period.
The spacious restaurant is partitioned into four areas called food positions. The East position offers a large variety of Asian cuisines, including Chinese noodles and dumplings, teppan, congee, Asian soup, dim sum, and home-cooked-style dishes from various Asian countries.
The West food position has Western cuisine and offers pizza, grills and pasta. Here diners have a chance to taste various kinds of Italian noodles.
The On Ice food position offers a big collection of fresh seafood, sushi and sashimi, Western appetizers and salad. Diners can select their own ingredients for the salad.
Finally, the Topping is a dessert station with a vast array of freshly baked soufflés, waffles and pancakes, pastries created by the chef, chocolate fountains with condiments , ice cream and fresh fruit.
Having retained many popular dishes from the old Coffee Garden, which was renowned for good taste and exquisite cooking, the new restaurant features many additions to the menus. The open kitchens in each food station give diners an appreciation of the chefs' culinary expertise. The signature noodle show, which demonstrates the various techniques in making noodles, at the East food station is highly recommended.
To meet the different demands of diners, the restaurant has prepared different menus. Diners can have the buffet lunch or dinner to try all the four food stations, or any one food station, or a combination of them. They can also order from the a la carte menu, which includes a selection of coffee and drinks.
A private dining room for 12 people has been included in the restaurant design for small meetings or gatherings. Various facilities help to create a more intimate dining and lifestyle experience.
Time: 6 am till midnight
Prices: 178 yuan per person for buffet lunch, 228 yuan per person for buffet dinner, plus 15 percent surcharge. Value vouchers are on sale and offer a discount for each dinner.
